SFASU James I. Perkins College of Education

The James I. Perkins College of Education is one of the largest and most comprehensive producers of Texas educators. The Perkins College enrolls more than 3,300 students and is the largest of the university's six academic colleges. The college offers 27 bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree programs and 45 educator certificate programs.

The Perkins College includes the School of Human Sciences and the departments of Elementary Education, Human Services, Kinesiology and Health Science, and Secondary Education and Educational Leadership. Seventeen centers, clinics and laboratories provide opportunities for student field experience and community outreach.

The Perkins College is fully accredited through the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, and more than 30 other national accreditation groups recognize its numerous programs.

The outstanding Perkins College faculty and staff contribute to the college's reputation as a state and national leader in the preparation of students who consistently achieve one of the highest educator certification pass rates in Texas.

Graduates of the Perkins College not only are employed as notable educators throughout Texas, but they also work in various professions, such as fashion merchandising, interior design, interior merchandising, communication disorders, speech language pathology, visual impaired, health sciences, hospitality administration, nutrition and dietetitcs, kinesiology, athletic training, dance, and rehabilitation services.
